Though one optional scene in the demo calls this into question, when Rose demonstrates some decidedly manipulative traits after an argument, while Maria appears much more sympathetic in a similar scene. In The Playboy of the Western World, Pegeen Mike is faced with a choice between Shawn Keogh, her dull hometown fiancé, and Christy Mahon, the exotic and possibly dangerous newcomer. In the end, she decides Christy is too dangerous and drives him away — and almost immediately regrets it.
Yes, it was completely cringe-worthy, but the silver lining is that it may have led Lili Reinhart to her role in Hustlers. Jughead’s story got pretty dark after the Season 5 time jump. As his drug and alcohol addictions got worse, he wound up spending the night in the sewers, where he met a shadowy figure he knew only as the Rat King. The Rat King wanted to keep Jughead underground with him forever, but Jug was able to escape and find a hospital, where he realized he’d hallucinated the whole thing.
And then when they looked at each other through their bedroom windows, and their long-buried feelings “shook loose”:
Betty shows up at Archie’s garage for rehearsal for the upcoming Variety Show. Archie explains that he got into a fight with Veronica, much like with Betty and Jughead. Archie’s upset, as he wanted this week to be about the four of them having fun. Betty recalls that one time in the first grade when they Passiondesire.com ordered sea monkeys from the back of a comic book and how much fun they had. When Archie saw that signup sheet, he flashed back to sophomore year when he performed at the Variety Show. He remembers freezing up from stage fright but gaining the courage from looking out to the crowd and seeing his dad.
And while the gang’s all back, intertwined in their own relationships, there are some pretty stark differences between the show and the comic books. And while some may be scratching their head at the difference in characters or storylines, that doesn’t mean this show isn’t entertaining, to say the least. Nowadays, fans are busy speculating whether or not Cheryl and Toni’s friendship will evolve into a relationship.
Betty’s feelings for him in Season 1, their quick kiss in Season 2… and who can forget them cheating on their long-time partners with each other at the end of Season 4? But, in the end, everything fell back into place for the long-standing couples of Riverdale. With the seven-year time jump at the beginning of Riverdale Season 5, it offered an opportunity to finally change things.
And, as enjoyable as it is watching Betty and Archie together, the latter will eventually realize that Veronica was always the girl for him. Following a rocky seven days for Riverdale fans, the season 2 finale opens with Betty standing at Jughead’s gravestone. Before everyone weeps again, the show reveals that Jughead was just dreaming and is indeed alive, just a bit bruised up and recovering at the hospital. When he’s reunited with Betty, he apologizes for not being there for her during the Black Hood mess. Before the party gets out of hand, FP tells everyone to go home and advises Jughead not to screw things up with Betty.

Archie on the other hand is invulnerable and fears that he could hurt her, but she wants to work through this together. Archie gets off the phone with his mom, who was wondering if Archie and Betty had put anymore thought into what she asked the late time she saw them. Betty presumes that she’s referring to marriage and reminds Archie that they decided marriage wasn’t for them because everyone they know who’s married, is either divorced or dead. However, Archie explains that she was actually referring to grandchildren.
After everyone learns Archie’s been having an affair with their teacher, Miss Grundy, in “The Last Picture Show” basically all hell breaks loose. Betty was always supposed to be Archie’s main love interest, even after Veronica in the comics. In Riverdale,it started off that way, but Archie claimed that he only saw Betty as a friend. In fact, even in season 4, when Archie and Betty kissed and craved each other, there was a whole sequence of them pining for each other by gazing into each other’s windows. Despite all the lovelorn gazing, Archie’s actual home and Betty’s house were not next to each other.

In The Brothers Grimm’s “Odds and Ends,” a diligent servant made herself a gown of the odds and ends of flax that the daughter of the house had thrown aside as too much trouble to spin. Discovering that she was thriftless and the servant thrifty, he gave her up and married the servant instead. In “The Damsel With the Long Nose”, in the beginning, the simpleton lad helps a miller’s daughter, who gives him three things that turn out to be magic. (The narrator observes at the time that he should have stayed put with her.) A princess tricks him out of them, one by one, but is so beautiful and charming that he keeps trusting her again. Finally, he gives her a long nose, which makes her so ugly he falls out of love, and tricks the things back out of her — and then wishes himself back to the miller’s daughter, since she was kind and simple.

That night, Archie pays Geraldine a surprise visit at school. He gives her an expensive cello bow as a thank you for all her help. While he doesn’t want to end their lessons, that’s exactly what he thinks they should do. They share a quick embrace before Alice, Fred, and Betty burst in, breaking their contact. Alice wants to turn the situation over to Sheriff Keller, which Archie refuses to allow, stating that everything that happened, he wanted to happen.
After attending her cello performance with his dad, Archie and Fred treat Geraldine to dinner at Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe. Geraldine had a dream to do more than teaching, but sometimes that’s all they are. Archie then asks if what they have is a dream, to which Geraldine asks if it would be so bad if it was. She thinks of it as a nice dream, but Archie can’t help but wonder where it would all end. After Jason Blossom’s body is found at Sweetwater River, Archie makes his way to Geraldine’s house, where he reminds her of the gunshot that they both heard on July 4th. This could’ve been the shot that killed Jason, and since they knew something that the police didn’t, which is when it was fired, Archie thinks it’s best to inform the authorities of this detail.
